Guest guest
ah, the unfairness of it all. taken to task for wandering thoughts and messages here about topics such as interests outside of yoga, yoga and sexual desire, humor, you name it. but politics is okay? i remain with my prior statement that anyone should be able to post here whatever they feel is appropriate. please give me some warning on the political essays, however, so that i go on to something i find a little more interesting
Guest guest
sun, i had read your home page article. after i sent that post, i was kind of wondering if my semi-hypocritical protest might not get you back out here to set me straight. where've you been? Guest guest
This raises the issue: isn't political activity compatible, if not inseperable, with practice of yamas and niyamas? Even if the censorship bill was passed it think there'd be a strong case for the appropriateness of expressing political views on this club, especially during an election.

As long as we're posting info on our favorite causes:

http://www.votenader.org/
Guest guest
Your point is valid, monkeymind. Our government would be better off if it strived toward the ideals of yama and niyama - universal, non-sectarian principles meant to improve the quality of life. As a yogi, I feel obligated to speak out against injustice and social ills. When other people are harmed because of our backwards political policies, I suffer also. It is not correct to practice yama and niyama for yourself, for your benefit only. We have the option of choosing one candidate over the other: certain choices may lead to more suffering than others. How is this unrelated to yoga??? Many great yogis have gone before the U.N. to demonstrate how yoga can be used to ameliorate the suffering in our world, for example. If these problems are too boring for those who have grown cynical, and would rather discuss surfing or something, too bad, IMO! I believe our political choices make a difference. "Take your yoga to the streets," and into the voting booth.

Sun, your website is great. I admire your concern for our political dilemma, especially since you're not even living in this country. I agree with the article...fortunately Gore has a big enough lead in my state (NY) so that I don't feel reservation about supporting a third party candidate. Guest guest
Natural Law Party and the Greens - people I can definitely relate to. Did you read the interview with John Hagelin in the new Yoga Journal? A yogi running for president, can u believe it?!
