Guest guest
maybe the fear or dread is that we are forced to do postures we know we don't do well and we don't want to look "bad". a lot of energy goes into that building anxiety. at the workshop, after that first day, i would start thinking about the extended uth plutii as soon as we started the finishing postures. the second class was probably dreading the extended setu bandhasana. by the time the actual dreaded posture comes, i've built up this demonic picture of torture in my mind. the doing of the posture is never as bad as the anticipation. but the next day, same mental thing. except, that like the gradual improvement in the asanas, the dread and anxiety gradually decrease as well.

and just so we don't confuse anyone, i detest kurmasana because i do it so poorly. my shoulders are 4 inches off the ground, WITH carol miller sitting on my back. we all have some asanas we like or that we can do well (usually the same thing) and some we can not. you are very good at headstand--you don't even twitch.
