Guest guest
My excellent teacher told me that Iyengar discourages pregnant women from practicing in the 11th, 12th, and 13th weeks of gestation, but he couldn't find any explanation for why this might be a particularly crucial time. Anyone ever hear of that?
Guest guest
Wierd, I was in the class of a senior Iyengar teacher today (gasp!) and someone asked the very same question. He said no, Iyengar doesn't have any particular restrictions for those weeks. Some poses can be done throughout the entire pregnancy, some should only be done in a given trimester. A video/book was suggested that was consistant with Iyengar's views--I'll find the name of it and post it later.
