Guest guest
pinky takes a few weeks off the board to travel for business and has to come home to find the same old group pouting about vewgetarianism. I am shocked and outraged that you can keep cheating yourselves with the same lame excuses. Dear generous Guy D. said it best - either you are interested in salvation or you're not. A few here are kindly casting yoga pearls while the rest just splatter them with mud.
Folks - its clear most of you are not interested in yoga so why pretend? It seems a huge big charade to keep up. Why not log onto Bar-B-Q message boards and extol the virtues of factory farming and affordable governemnt subsidized beef.
Vegetarianism is the easiest step to take and it will make all the rest follow. Do you think we are making this up just to offend your wee egos? No we are trying to share helpful yoga insights so you can be happier, freer and so you can glimpse and soon know God.
Saint Francis wasn't veg!?! But he fasted for weeks at a time. Would you prefer that approach?
You can't each change the rules and traditions because you feel too complacent or downtrodden to change. Being on the defensive won't help.
Wave an anti-death penalty banner till you arm is blue but if your'e not veg yet you're daily yoga practise has not begun.
If you are interested in Tibetan Buddhism (because you want to eat meat like His Holiness the Dalai Lama) then seek teaching in that school - it is fraught with even more disciplines and intense learning and structure than Ashtanga yoga. If you wish to practice Ashtanga Yoga then part of this is vegetarianism. You prefer to leave out that step because you don't "feel" like it! Fine - but that ain't Ashtanga Yoga.
So now you've found lots of on-line friends who support your yoga wishy-washy ways. But don't fool yourselves - you may feel popular but you're not practicising Ashtanga Yoga. Do you really want to learn? Then take the advice here that comes from long time daily practiioners who respect and love Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
- m.p.
