Hi Lu, I have some experience with vipassana

meditation (I meditate daily) but I'm not sure I understand

your question. If you mean how do I apply what I

practice on my meditation cushion to my yoga mat, it's a

question of mindfulness. My meditation practice has helped

me to maintain greater mindfulness of what I'm doing

during yoga practice as well as greater equanimity,

especially when dealing with potential distractions.

Lately I've been paying special attention to the 5

hinderances from Buddhist psychology: desire (clinging and

craving), aversion ("stupid @#$%^&* hips!"), lethargy,

restlessness and doubt. Applying the awareness of the

hinderances I've learned from vipassana to ashtanga has been

very helpful to my yoga practice, which brings them

out in a big way.

Hope this helps!

I meditate for 45-60 minutes a couple of hours

after my yoga practice. I do yoga in the morning and

right afterwards I need to rest, shower and eat. Once

I've rested and digested then I meditate. But I am

blissfully unemployed so time isn't an issue for me. If I

didn't have much time I would probably do both in the

morning, meditating first for however long was feasible

and then practicing yoga right afterwards.
