Guest guest
You might want to add to your research the article on Ashtanga and Pattabhi Jois by Rebecca Mead in the August 14, 2000 issue of the New Yorker. I beleive there is a link to an online version posted way back in the posts on this club somewhere. This quote is from the article:

"Jois has a particular animus against Beryl Bender Birch, the author of the popular book "Power Yoga," a very accesible guide that is based upon the Ashtanga series. 'Only money-making,' Jois told me sternly. (In reply, Birch says, 'My objective was to bring this system to mainstream America, to a lot of people who wouldn't otherwise have been comfortable trying yoga. As far as I can see, we have all benefitted from it.')"

I now dare not reveal my true identity lest the lawyers of the New Yorker track me down and sue me for copyright infringement. I thank you for the pointer to that article.

Your quoted response, I believe, falls into the "fair use" category so you're safe from the Copyright cops.
