Just recently found a copy of Conscious Eating in a used bookstore and grabbed it up. (the older edition back when it was $20 and 530 pages) Haven't read much of it yet though. <br><br>Anyway I wanted to comment on the use of HCL/pepsin supplements. (HCL is hydro-chloric acid - your body is supposed to make what it needs to help disgest food in the stomach). A chiroprator told me many years ago that I needed this supplement to digest protein. I started taking it along with other supplements and had no problems with it. Perhaps did me some good, who knows. Many years later, just a few years ago, I bought some, not really being in the habit of using it regularly anymore. Anyway I had a couple of incidents of severe pain in my stomach that lasted for days and had me really scared because I didn't know what it was. I later figured out that it was from the HCL. The reason I think this happened was that I had mistakenly purchased a much stronger tablet. I think it is commonly in 100mg tablets and I got the 400mg tablets. So I think I found out that too much HCL supplementation can be bad. I would recommend using the regular or light strength and not the super-duper strength if you are going to use HCL supplements.
