Guest guest
Basically, Birch's "Power Yoga" is not strictly Ashtanga yoga as taught by K. Pattabhi Jois, and Jois does not recognize her as a teacher of his method. Jois's own book, "Yoga Mala," is excellent, and I really like David Swenson's Practice Manual, too, he gives lots of specific info, modifications for beginners, it's available on amazon.com, and Swenson scores by having PKJ's approval. Good luck out there in Utah!
Guest guest
If you order David's book from Amazon, you will wait a long time for it. Better to order directly from Swenson's own site (www.ashtanga.net) and you will get it faster. I also think his video is essential to have with the book. Both are clearly instructional and complement each other.
