Guest guest
Hello! My name is Inga and I´m from Iceland. I have a dream and I want to fulfill it. I want so much to study Ashtanga yoga with Shri K.Pattabhi jois. What is the best way to get in touch with him? I think about this every day. Can anybody be so kind to share some information with me? Thank you and Namaste everybody.
Guest guest
Hi,

You will find information about studying yoga in Mysore in my article on the subject at:
http://indigo.ie/~cmouze/yoga_online/Mysore.htm

It should answer most of your questions more fully

Is the town crowded, busy, ease of getting around?
Yes, crowed and busy. Getting around is easy: rickshaws are cheap, or rent a bike/ scooter.

Places to stay nearby?
Again see my article. Even now (which is the busiest time) it is relatively easy, and very cheap, to rent a flat or a room.

Where do you find food you can eat?
Any vegetarian restaurant, or cook your own.

And how many people are practicing now?
about 60 in Patthabi, 20 in the Mysore Mandala, 20 with Venkatehsh, I don't know about Iyengar. Busiest time of the year.

Lovely weather, though.

Christophe Mouze
Editor Yoga Online
http://www.yogamagazine.net
Presently in Mysore, India
Guest guest
I second Christophe's recommendation of his own Mysore information page - very useful.

> Where do I get food I can eat?
Well, as Christophe says, pretty much anywhere if you're careful. But it is still common for people to get slightly sick at some point in their first few weeks here - it was mid-December (i.e. 6 weeks) before my guts felt completely comfortable all the time. Just a matter of the metabolism adjusting to unfamiliar things. On no account drink tapwater - I know of two people who've been *really* ill - typhoid & hepatitis - and they both did.

> is town crowded/busy?
the city centre is - out in the suburbs where most yoga students live is relatively tranquil
