Guest guest
More butting in from yoga mums - I first tried Ashtanga when I was four months pregnant, with a two-week workshop, every day, really intense and tiring. The I stopped and increasingly modelled my practice to accomodate my growing belly. I like what edenlotus said about Dena (Who was my teacher's teacher's teacher, talk about not having certified people around here) - how the need (not just physical but emotional too) to care for another human being helps overcome those attachments. And that's doing yoga too, isn't it? It's true that your body changes after you've had a child, I was lucky in that before I didn't have a particular practice to get attached to, just basically started about a year after my baby was born. He's nearly two now, and loves to adjust me with his older brother - we look like a circus act most of the time. So if you feel limited physically it refocuses you to more internal things. Guest guest
hey dani, thanks for the insights. that's impressive that you started right out with a 2 week workshop. it took me a couple of months of doing this to work up enough courage to get serious and go at it full time (or as close as i can).
on another tangent...
i was curious after going thru your site--when you dive, do you notice any effect on your practice later? Guest guest
It's not really that impressive, because I didn't know what I was getting into!!! I mean, I was told, but I'm an extremely physical person so it sounded good to me.....
Diving - I haven't noticed any consistent effects, except that I'm really tired after diving because I'm usually working quite hard when I'm underwater. So if I'm on a field trip (in fact I leave for one in about an hour) I take my mat, but if I don't practise in the morning i don't practise at all. But now that you mention it, i'll see if there is an effect.
