yes, it can be quite tiresome, don't ya think, to

join a club and have to read about such off topic

subjects, like how the practice affects other aspects of

members' lives, how every day actions, like voting,

eating, and relaxing are functions of some aspects of

ashtanga, etc. who would want to have put up that kind of

community? perhaps we are long overdue for initiating an

on-line varna or caste system.<br><br>for example,

<br>the sudra caste message group: meeting place of the

ashtanga manual laborers, menials, etc. messages here

would be confined the subject of physically doing the

practice. nothing...NOTHING...else allowed.<br><br>the

vaishya message group: the merchants and tradesfolk.

obviously reserved for the sellers of mats, books, videos,

wooden blocks, straps and trinkets out there. topics

confined to commerce and creative ways to speed the masses

on their way to purity thru poverty<br><br>the

kshatriya message group: the warriors and nobility: the

upper crust practicioners and adjustors. usually,

personal friends of the big name teachers; have all been

to mysore at least once- most still proud of their

residual giardia and other parasitic disorders. discussion

here limited to how minimize the tiresome nature of

having to be around the un-informed and unlimber and the

true, right, correct, divine way to do given

postures.<br><br>the brahmin message group: reserved for the most holy

and high--those who would guide all the rest of the

ashtanga community in aspects of spirtuality and law.

rarified group, communication in this on-line caste is to

be limited to repeating specific authorized phrases,

such as, "om shanti, shanti, shanti..", "vande,

gurunam, caranaravinde..." and "do your practice, all is

coming."<br><br>finally, of course, there is the great, unwashed harijan

message group: lowest of the low, humblest of all

digerati--scavengers, beggers, beginners, hangers on, wanna be's and

just plain folk. the people of god.<br>here people

would discuss what they find interesting about each

other. sharing concepts, jokes, ideas, experiences.

argueing, agreeing, miscommunicating, laughing,

commiserating, learning. all the usual off topic stuff. it's a

dark and dismal place to have to reside but it's their

lot in life. beside, it's better than the other

options.<br><br>so, it's about time we got some appropriate

stratification around here, don't you think. whomever would like

to volunteer to become the founder for a specific

group, post your qualifications and if worthy, you can

preceed to central to set up your kingdom

Thanks for a great post :-)<br><br>ps. I think

this message board ought to support discussion threads

and display the message subjects as a tree. The

volume of messages will be double soon and the board is

in danger of turning into a slow chatroom.

Ooooh John, I am glad you are easily goaded! It

makes my day when you give us all such a

laugh.<br><br>But why would the brahmin astangis be on a

club, especially if they don't even think they should

go to movies? So many fluctuations of the mind to be

found here! Certainly more than in a mafia

flick.<br><br>Welcome back, yogageek. I have wondered where you've

been, since you have always been good for a belly

laugh, too.<br><br>yours in laughter, <br>B

<< I think this message board ought to

support discussion threads and display the message

subjects as a tree.>><br><br>that would be an even

more useful improvememnt than getting search and sort

capabilities. incorporating usenet type thread heirarchies

would make this a much more functional message group to

scan thru.<br><br>that being said, don't hold your

breath. when i previously sent off a small raft of

"suggestions" to the s on improvements i'd like to

see, i got no response at all-- not even a typically

dismissive "thank you for your unsolicited and unrealistic

wishful thinking, but due to complexites and constraints

beyond your pitiful comprehension, we are unable to

accomodate your fantasies at this time"<br><br>maybe a

renewed letter/suggestion writing campaign will bear some

fruit. i'll scroll back and try to find the link to make

suggestions and post it later after the yogitas are in bed

Sometime soon Clubs is merging with eGroups

so their services will change anyway. We should

still bug them about better features such as search

functions and trees. Right now, eGroups does not use trees.

Bulletin boards that use trees are usually software

embedded in websites. You usually have to pay to get the

full features of these BBS, or they will be included

in a hosting package. Somewhere down the road if the

members of the Ashtanga Yoga club want a full-featured

bulletin board, someone will need to set one up on an

independent website.<br><br>P.S. I heard that when and

eGroups merge, all clubs with an unactive founder may be

deleted. so...where's Betty?
