Guest guest
Yeah, that Madonna movie is pretty sad. If that's really her in the movie, she's a lot better at asana than she is at moviemaking (or music, for that matter).
Sorry you didn't like my message (I guess that's what you mean to say). Maybe you are misreading it, though. I asked (a while back) if anyone knew why supposedly P. Jois says that going to the movies is bad. Got lots of responses, all of them interesting (to me, anyway). I was trying to understand better one of them and give my thoughts responding to it. Far be it from me to advise anybody here whether to go to the movies, or not.
Over the weekend I finally got "Yoga Mala", supposedly the source of the anti-movie idea. (Despite the universal enthusiasm here about this book, I was resisting for a while -- you know all the books start to seem the same after a while.) I don't see any mention of movies at all in there. He does talk about not going to the "theatre" though, in a surprisingly long section about preserving "bindu". (Yow! Now there's a subject that I bet we could really have a fight about!) Preserving "bindu" pops up again and again in the book. Jois' ideas about sex and marriage are pretty tough stuff -- could make even old-school Catholics cringe. Is everybody out there right in line behind him in this area?
