Guest guest
Hey Ok, On my field trip I thought a bit about your question and did an early morning practice after two days of full-on diving (between 8 and 9 hours underwater). I was excruciatingly stiff, but the next day i was fine. Maybe a combination of holding a fairly stiff position in the water, breathing compressed air, nitrogen in the bloodstream, and carrying loads of heavy stuff, and not practising throughout. It's amazing how quickly it came back though after loosening up just a bit.
Guest guest
Am only an occasional diver, but doing pranayama has greatly improved my breathing efficiency. On a recent dive trip my air lasted nearly twice as long as a similar dive a year ago. While on the dive boat I was not able to do a full practice, but did the seated postures of the first series and the closing routine without any vinyasas in the early morning every other day and felt fine. Guest guest
I think it depends what you're doing....with work diving I find it difficult to concentrate on breathing or anything else, because I have to count and measure stuff. But I agree with you that it's a good idea to try and apply the principles of pranayama to diving...I'll try it next time.
