Guest guest
For Christmas, my wife got me, along with some other very nice things, a LEATHER COAT! And I'm thinking, omigod -- that poor cow!
The coat is as cool as they get -- kind of preaged looking, longish. Totally "dude". So I, being very open, honest, straightforward (and stupid) say, sort of incredulously, "You got me a leather coat?" My wife, in one of her frequent attacks of amazing and total egolessness, says, "well, you know, if you don't like it, we could take it back -- it's no big deal." But later she gets me to try it on; exclaims how great it looks; what a great bargain it was, etc.
And of course I go back later to obsessing about the cow; could I ever be caught dead wearing it; not wanting to give energy to all the cow killers in the world, etc. (But, this cow, remember, is dead already.) And, what's the point of doing yoga and all, if I'm going to walk around wearing a leather coat? (By the way, my wife is no stranger to yoga and has probably forgotten more than I'll ever know.)
So I'm thinking about it. Any reactions?

P.S. One possible compromise solution -- keep the coat but don't wear it much, or at all.
