Guest guest
so...i do a hop forward from downdog, land on my arse stretch out my left leg, bend my right, grab my foot, put heel under anus (hallo guruji) reach forward grab my left foot, turn on the bandhas, go forward and down, pelvis rotates, chin to shin, hey presto heel is in perineum (hello david swenson, hallo mulabandha).....always check the small print
Guest guest
PS, by the way, the toes of the folded up leg are to be visible on the inside of the outstretched leg, not curved toward the outside of that leg.
Guest guest
better still, *as* you jump through bend your bottom leg into position and -- bam -- sit. I picked that up from Swenson...form-wise it's more economical and faster.
Guest guest
Thank you all for your thoughts about Janu Sirsa B. Very helpful indeed.

Kind regards,
Nada
Guest guest
My msg # 5945 is wrong. Janu Sirsasana B is NOT taught in Iyengar Yoga (only Janu Sirsa A). Mistaken identity. Sorry.

Whatever the Sacred Ant Feed might originally have stated, there is no ultimate version of Yoga Chikitsa or of any other Ashtanga Yoga Series. Teaching fashions change in Mysore, and Scott's Primary Series may simply be more up-to-date. Janu Sirsasana B might therefore be practised in different variations, so that neither David Swenson nor John Scott are 'wrong'. This further proves the impossibility of pinning down the Ashtanga sequences to every single detail.

I haven't attempted Janu Sirsasana B yet, as my Ashtanga practice is still just beyond the starting line, however my impression is that Scott's version is slightly more demanding.

I myself prefer to follow Scott's instructions to the letter. His book is my Holy Bible on Ashtanga Yoga. And I love doing Full Vinyasa; that really kicks me in the ass.
