I practice power yoga. I just started recently

after recovering from bunion surgery. Does a person

burn fat from yoga? I know you gain muscle which helps

to burn fat, but what about existing fat? Thanks!

Bottome line, fat loss is accomplished by burning

more calories than one consumes. A 1-2 hour astanga

yoga session probably burns as many calories an hour

as does swimming for the same length of time.

also, amy, in addition to calorie burning, a

regular hatha yoga practice will tune up the metabolism

and all the systems of the body, including the

digestive and circulatory. combined with a good sattvic

diet (fresh fruits & veggies prepared with love, not

too spicy, with moderate use of milk products if

desired, organic if available) the body should find its

optimum weight. i think mostly, though, practice of the

ashtanga (eight limbs) of raja yoga will allow one to

focus the mind, be content with the truth, and to

surrender to the wisdom of our infinite pure consciousness

as it manifests in the illusory physical body. when

the intentions are good, the practice is always

perfect. yoga is the original 'power of positive thinking'

philosophy.

good luck!
jai (rhymes with

DIVINE SELF.
Yoga practice definitely burns

fat and it is a slow and systematic process. Body has

its own mechanism and it works according to its own

system. Wait and see the changes.
Yours in
