Guest guest Posted February 9, 2001 Report Share Posted February 9, 2001 i've read here, i think, that back bends are not really part of the first series. if that is correct, it's interesting that one would have to demonstrate proficiency in them to progress to the next series. perhaps they are now considered part of the first series. What my experience has been & what I have seen w/ other students in class with me is that when you are a beginner, you may do backbending x3 from the ground, then eventually the teacher will start coming around to assist you with standing dropbacks -- but again, i would love to hear what Guruji actually does in Mysore (until I can get there & find out for myself that is......)..
