Guest guest
Whilst I was living in the UK several fellow yogis made the effort to practice under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore and had a wonderful time. I'm now in Australia and after having only practiced astanga yoga for a couple of years am considering journeying to India for the same purpose. The India Lonely Planet Guide lists the telephone number of the Mysore camp and that it costs 400 US dollars per month (minimum of 3 months). I would be very appreciative if anyone could expand on the scant knowledge I have - such as: do I telephone, email, post a letter, or turn up at the gates?; how long is the waiting list?; what's included in the cost?; are shorter stays possible?; up to how long can one stay?.. Forgive me if this all common knowledge. My thanks. Mark.
Guest guest
hello, I had the pleasure of <br>studying with guruji in Boulder CO, USA<br>this past summer. I asked his grandson, Sharath,<br>the protocol. His answer and i paraphrase<br><br>"write us a letter telling us you are coming<br>to study at least 2 months in advance. When you<br>don't get a response that means its okay to come"<br><br>The huge amount of USD/month to study<br>is a royal pain in the butt. It is my understanding that 1 month is the minimum<br>stay in Mysore (studying at the Ashtanga<br>Institute) but that 3 months is the<br>preferred time to study<br><br>Good luck and emjoy. <br><br>Do your practice and<br>all is comming.<br><br>Namaste
Guest guest
those going should also know that astanga mysore inc is taking everyone they can get...which means that right now 200 people are in attendance every day. The wait for your turn is about 2 hours.<br><br>Just something else to consider before you go.
Guest guest
Then think of other places apart from mysore to go to ashtanga classes. One can wait for the chance to go to mysore while practicing at other centres.
