Guest guest
tshamoya,

That's not fair.

If you'd read his posts regularly (I do; his British sense of humour is phenomenal!), you would certainly know that ineednonumber23 is actually one of the biggest fans of your country you can find on this board.

So it shouldn't upset you if he - occasionally - calls the US "a fukked country and no mistake". Judge yourself, since you live there: AMERICA, is that really a place all milk & honey? Germany, I can assure you, is not!

I think you Americans are too sensitive, and that's your problem. (BTW, I have been in New York City once for 2 weeks, and I truely enjoyed it a lot.)

Guest guest
Hey Tshamoya

Mea culpa: Its true i love america - well has to be said ive only been to nyc 4 times and chicago once so really i dont know what the fuk im talking about but i do consume an awful lot of american cultural product and its a very weird country.

do you know a richard ashcroft song called 'new york'? that says much. ny, i guess i see nyc as a hyperbolic account of the american way, is so alluring, so fantastic. for me america is a country that can put its thumb in its mouth whenever it wants to and it does. and who can deny that??

i love this place, its my dark egomaniac side: caffeine; food NOW and twice the size and half teh price and cheap and wonderful clothes and a bar on every corner and a cafe in between and eating out and ice in drinks and cocktails for brunch and the very first time i saw manhatten from teh shore off of brokklyn i cried and last year, my fourth visit, i still stared with wonder like the seven year old i am who's masquerading inside this 37 year old body. so i love america but i hate it becaue its capital ways have converted pretty much all of the planet ive been to so, slowly slowly we live in a homogenised place where depth and comprehension are replaced by surface and simulcra.

hmm. . . sorry got a bit carried away there. to us stripling euorpeans america seems so wasteful, so avaricious, so unthinking, out of touch. still all the wars are over, america won and you get to rule the world and eat all the pies (which is why i like to come and grab at a few crumbs one in a while).

all of which reminds me: does anyone know if donna karen still does those DKNYoga t shirts? incongorous to say the least!!

Oh and T.- good riposte!

Shining S - many thanks for your kind words. i was genuinelly touched.

boy wish i could spell . . .
