Guest guest
Michael,

Fair question. I don't mind at all elaborating on what I meant by American culture being wierd. I have done, but it came out too long and too not yoga-related to post here. I put it on my website instead, where you can read it if you choose at http://www.alanlittle.org/gallery/usa/usa1.html

One of the main things that bugs me is the insularity - so much of what I read, see and hear coming out of America seems to regard the USA as the world, with only a dim awareness that the other 95% of us are out here and might have fundamentally different experiences & assumptions. (Gross over-generalisation obviously, but we're talking about my personal opinions and impressions here so I can be as gross and over-generalised as I want). And just the fact that, to my surprise and despite the language barrier, I found myself feeling very at home when I came to Germany; whereas, also to my surprise, despite the common language I always feel very foreign in the USA.

I agree with what ineednonumber said so eloquently in #6535 too.
