Guest guest
As far as good videos go, click on your left at "links" and then go to TSlade's website. He has a good listing of the best astanga yoga videos and where to obtain them.
Guest guest
If you're any where near cornwall you might try this place
http://www.ashtanga.co.uk/

As for videos and books, here's a reprint of a prior posting by TLSlade, who has a helpful website with lots of links.

Some other books which may be better would
be:
Yoga Mala - Pattabhi Jois
Astanga Yoga - Lino Miele
Ashtanga Yoga - The Practice Manual - David
Swenson
Ashtanga Yoga - John Scott
But I think it would be even better to get a video
ortwo. The video from Yoga Works with Pattabhi
Joisis a good reference. David Swenson and
RichardFreeman both have excellent videos
with lots ofexplanation. My current favorite is the
video of SarahPowers on Maui. I think the
Swenson video is a littlefast paced. Sarah says
to aim for 5 seconds on thethe inhale and 5
seconds on the exhale, so thepace is much
slower. Also, she gives lots of goodinstruction
on this video.
Info on where to get all these books and videos
ishere:
http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/yogabook.htm
http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/yogavid.htm
Guest guest
The south of England is a big place, can you be more specific? There are lots of good teachers in London. John Scott in Cornwall is one of the top ashtangis in the world. There is a strong ashtanga scene in Oxford. Guy Donahaye used to teach in Bristol before he moved to New York, somebody probably took over from him in Bristol, you could mail him and find out: info

There's also a list of UK teachers at http://www.somathefirm.com/teacher05.html - a bit of a mish-mash, I don't think they are all ashtanga teachers although most of them are.

Good luck.
