Guest guest
Hi,

Your right I was starting to wonder about this club. The tensions are high. But I have had a couple of supportive respones and that is all I really need.

As to the stress factor it's easy to say don't be stressed. But when your physically sick and there is no cause except for the way your body reacts to outside stimulus is than becomes an issue of how to handel it. So I have tried to change the way I eat, stopped drinking soda and caffine, and getting my mind and body in sync with what it should be doing.

Any pratical advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

Lewis
Guest guest
I want to tell you what I mean but I'm not sure that a message here will do it. It is basically what you really get from practicing yoga - something very much like "faith" in the religious sense (in fact I would say that it is exactly the same, but I guess that a lot of people would disagree with that). What I mean about stress is basically that you can have an attitude (and I think that yoga promotes it) that whatever happens - good, bad or indifferent - will not affect you. You find your "core" (read "soul"), and live there, rather than for transient pleasures (or pains).

Practical advice would be to practice yoga. The other stuff then tends to fall into place - I don't know how else to put it. You will give up some things, do other things more. There are lots of dos and don'ts, but it doesn't help to just list them because you need to find them yourself, by practicing. Here are some anyway: eat vegetarian. Don't smoke, drink or do drugs. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and nuts. Drink lots of water. See? It doesn't mean much to just say this stuff; you've got to do it yourself. Guest guest
Lewis,
Hang in there, keep doing lots of research and try to stay positive. "Don't be stressed," is advice that will seem very concrete and practical if you commit yourself to yoga practice, meditation, etc. The biggest key is to find a teacher you trust (this is most important).
At first, when people realize they are stressed (many don't realize how stressed they are until they're ill) they tend to think "it's just the way things are, I'm a stressed person." This is a habit, a response to outside factors (reacting to events in way that causes stress) that we learn at an early age. Stress is not caused by outside factors, it's a RESPONSE to outside factors that is sometimes necesssary (in the case of life threatening situations), but more often not (like getting pissed when someone cuts you off on the highway). Stressful responses can be unlearned. You have to be willing to see yourself as capable of change, and then be willing to put your life on the line to do it...
It's a long haul and a lot of relentless work, but very worth it.
Good luck.

OM SHANTI
PM
Guest guest
Don't try to change your habits. This is ego, and causes more stress. The ashtanga will do that for you if you practice mindfully each day.
Trust and surrender.
"Do your practice and all is coming." Guest guest
Thank you for your interest in Lino's workshop. Yes, I will report on that (it starts on Friday), for you and for the others who are interested.

It is indeed my understanding that Tshamoya left us already, together with some others (TLSlade?) - which hurts me because I liked these people. It should be no secret to you as well as to the others who regularly read my posts, that I have been opposed to the split-up of the online Astanga-Yoga community into two boards from the start. In my view this wasn't necessary - and with hindsight it has been more damaging than beneficial. It is also my impression that this message board is increasingly loosing ground against EZboard, although, to be true, I myself prefer this place by far, and (sorry Smygga) I myself will never post "over there". My understanding is that the statement that this board hasn't got a moderator is not true: until recently in fact, the moderator of this message board was Senor Pinche Wey. It was him who set the tone here, whether you liked it or not. Now that he's gone I can't figure out how this place will evolve. Ever more people will certainly leave for EZboard... but don't expect me to follow. I shall post on Lino Miele's workshop here - and then let's see.
