Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels which are

part of the normal anatomy of the rectum. Anything

that increases intra abdominal pressure for a period

of time will make them worse.Lifting heavy

things(like couches), straining etc, can make them worse.

Constipation also increases intrabdominal and colonic

pressure.
I am a gastroenterologist. We manage 90% of

hemorrhoids with DAILY fiber supplements like psyllium,

metamucil and/or high fiber diets. Creams to relieve

inflammed hemorrhoids can be used to relieve symtoms.
I

tend to doubt that the locks for ashtanga would have a

big effect, either positive or negative.Physical

activity, like yoga practice should help most people with

bowel troubles. The increase in intra-abdominal pressure

might worsen hemorrhoids in a few people.
The

comment made by one of the other members about pain and

possible anal fissures is important.
Persistent anal

discomfort and pain is best evaluated by either a

gastroenterologist or perhaps a colorectal surgeon. There are no

more proctologists. Surgery is very drastic and needed

only in very few cases.

Baddha konasana "destroys diseases of the anus",

i believe (i think it's mentioned as good for

hemorrhoids in Lino's book, in which he lists the benefits

associated with each pose according to Guruji). So when you

next practice, try holding baddha konasana for 25

breaths when you get to it. I find that baddha konasana

also really helps to get the correct application of

mula bandha: because of the position of the legs, you

can really feel the pelvic floor spreading and the

anal sphincters remain relatively relaxed, while the

very center of the perineum can lift. So the pose

really helps to separate ashwini mudra from mula

bandha.

Also, inversions (sarvangasana and sirsasana)seem to

help. Good luck
