Guest guest
Brahmacharya is one of the 5 moral codes (yamas) of yoga, i.e. ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truthfulness), asteya (non-stealing), brahmacharya (chastity), and aparigraha (non-possessiveness), which every yoga practitioner is supposed to follow.

Yoga holds to the belief that squandering semen leads to a loss of energy & weakens the body. Brahmacharya is the discipline to prevent practitioners going to bed with someone else at "inappropriate" times during the month. Times are set down when it is considered appropriate to have sex, and according to the yoga tradition, a sexual relationship should happen only within the bonds of marriage.

Instead of reading Patanjali's sutras online, why don't you get a copy of Sri K Pattabhi Jois' "Yoga Mala", which will enlighten you on every aspect of the brahmacharya issue & on everything else concerning the practice of astanga yoga?
