Guest guest
I have been out of town for about ten days and just browsed through the last week's posts. I have been interested in learning more about the practice of bramacharya for women. I personally practice periods of total sexual abstinance and only date about once a year. I started expiramenting with abstinance after becoming disturbed at my own objectification of others as sexual objects. I notice that I am more focused in my practice during times of abstinance from sexual activity and fantasy. But this is also true of abstinance from abusing food and other ways that I bring harm to myself. Perhaps there is some validity to the suggestion I've read that the energy that would have been used up for sexual activity being available for spiritual activity. I don't know. There is so much that I do not understand. It has been nice to not need to understand and just enjoy practice lately. Thanks to all who post, it is all of value if only to teach me more about myself when I see myself in others. I have even noticed that I sometimes check the posts for entertainment value to see what absurdities have transpired. I like to laugh. Guest guest
yes, i too am interested in the practice of brahmacharya as it relates to women. much has been written about retention of seminal fluid -- the ancient texts seem to be aimed exclusively at men (forbidding female fundamentalists take note). transmutation of sexual energy into ojas shakti, spiritual energy, surely must be the salient point philosophically, and obviously applies to all regardless of gender. dissolution of the ego through this and other yogic practices including selfless service, study (including disciplined debate) and devotion remove obstacles to Self-relization.
