Guest guest Posted April 5, 2001 Report Share Posted April 5, 2001 Does anyone have an opinion on what causes muscle cramps? New yoga students frequently encounter very strong cramping. Those more experienced will often encounter cramping when attempting asanas that are new to them.<br><br>The literature that I have seen suggests muscle cramps are due to (a) lack of water and (b) lack of trace minerals such as selenium, magnesium, potassium and the like. This may all true but it doesn't explain why people new to yoga can experience severe cramping and two years later have none (changes in diet aside).<br><br>Any suggestion would be appreciated.
