Guest guest
so i guess the answer is no.

(note again the subject line has been changed yet again. anyone trying to trace back to the original anti-gay comments see message #7028 onward.)

as usual you are trying to bait me into an off-topic response. again, as usual i will speak from the blissfull center of my yoga practice. i don't compartmentalize. satya is the same in all situations -- simply the truth. ahimsa is nonviolence in thought, word and deed -- everywhere all the time. there is action in inaction, i.e., doing nothing where something is called for creates more karma. as i like to say to my students: "imagine trying to fake yoga ... the very idea!"

while sri jois has correctly observed that asana is a useful place to start, he is unambiguous that the entire ashtanga are to be used as a guide. my experience and observation corroborate that teaching. if someone allegedly sweats through asana two hours a day six days a week and spends the rest of her time spreading hatred and lies, might be wise to keep a spiritual diary and seek out a personal connection with a wise teacher.

if you really think hate speech against gays needs your erstwhile defending, perhaps you should look up paragraph 175, or check out sodomylaws.org, or maybe godhatesfags.com. a search for matthew shepard might also be informative. the hetrick-martin institute has a very informative website regarding the effect of hate-based anti-gay societal attitudes on gay and questioning youth.

perhaps you could prevail upon your alleged friend and mentor to cease the gay baiting and attacking, and to stop encouraging others such as yourself from following suit. really, phrases such as "all the queers" or "all gay men ..." followed by a blanket condemnation are as avidya shrouded and pernicious as any benighted wormy little hatred can be, and have no place in civilized discourse about any topic. mischaracterizing my reasoned, ashtanga-based responses as the cause of your endless off-topic vitriole is simply dishonest.

if someone out of the blue issues a hate-filled attack or discrediting lie, five others join in and repeat the same garbage attaching it like barnacles to every one of my posts, it would seem obvious that the off-topic environment has not been created by me. were i to witness the same treatment here of someone because of race or religion i would be responding in the same way -- just as those nongays here have offered their

cont'd>>>>>
Guest guest
Om namah Sivaya. Jaya Ganesha

..."satya is the same in all situations -- simply the truth. ahimsa is nonviolence in thought, word and deed -- everywhere all the time. there is action in inaction, i.e., doing nothing where something is called for creates more karma."

As posted before, there is more to satya that what you are claiming: "If speaking the truth has negative consequence of another, then it is better to say nothing."--Desikacharji. Also,"Speak the truth that is pleasant. Do not speak unpleasant truths"--Mahabharata

So the first aspect of satya is to do no harm, cause no disharmony anywhere. Then, if one still feels it necessary to speak one's version of truth, then do so with impeccability and compassion and without ego.

One cannot take on a responsibility to educate or improve others. Apparently you have spent quite a bit of time with the Sivananda group. So you are familiar with Swami Sivananda's advice: "Reform yourself. Guest guest
exactly right, so which is why 1) pernicious lies creating a hostile environment must not go unchallenged, and 2) i have repeatedly requested that the hate speech here so damaging to the world simply cease.

you have already demonstrated your capacity for expounding on the sivananda style with no knowledge of it, so it can be assumed your comments on the organization are not based in experience. better to counter falsehod with firm restraint, then to let others confuse the public with lies, however sweetly.

you make the mistake not uncommon among worldly opportunists that to be a yogi is to be a doormat. nothing could be further from the truth. Guest guest
Om Blessed Self

Actually, I have had some considerable experience with the Sivananda Organization, having been a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu Devananda and having been asked three times by that Organization, after the mahasamadhi of Swami Vishnu, to become a director of different of Sivananda Yoga/Vedanta Yoga Centers.

I'm sure that in your acquaintance with the Sivananda Organization, you heard the story of how Swami Sivananda in the midst of giving Satsang in Rishikesh was attacked by a disgruntled man wielding an axe. Even then, Swami Sivananda did nothing to save his own life. But saved it was by other people, including Swami Vishnu Devananda, who wrestled the axe away from the man. Later, in the true expression of satya and ahimsa, Swami Sivananda visited the man in the police station, had him released without charges, feted him and gave him money to return to his family.

So, I say again, "Reform yourself. Let the rest of the world reform itself."

With regard to your comment on the Sivnanda style, if you want to cite Sivananda charts and page references, at least make sure that they support your position and not mine. The references you cited clearly supported my simple statement as I repeated showed you.

From what I can see, you are the type of person who, once they have an idea come into their head don't want to be bothered with evidence to the contrary. A sort of don't-bother-me-with-facts-my-mind-is-made-up attitude. For some reason unknown to me you also appear to be very vindictive toward those with whom you disagree. Opinions may differ but the world goes on. So why get so steamed about something so trivial?

And, if I might add, this vicious, uninformed, mean-spirited rant is exactly the kind of reply that I earlier cautioned you not to make. It's lack of factual material and its petuant venom merely brings you into disrepute and taints all your subsequent posts.

I know firsthand how stressful it is to live in Manhattan. My recommendation is that you meditate more--daily, if not, twice daily.

Om namah Sivaya
Guest guest
And where do you see this "vicious, ninformed, mean-spirited rant" and "petuant venom"???? I don't see or hear it from Omboy. Maybe he is a mirror for you perhaps? See, it is possible that you are not so wonderful as you believe.

crowjuice
Guest guest
again you want to draw me into an off-topic discussion of your confusion over the sivananda style or your deliberate intent to misinform others about it. this is not the focus of this board, so please refrain from doing so in future.
