Guest guest
Just a question...does anyone know why in Ashtanga you always do shoulderstand before headstand? In Iyengar we always do headstand before shoulderstand and then when I'm in sarvangasana, it doesn't hurt my neck as much (as if I just did it without headstand first). I'm simultaneously taking Iyengar and Ashtanga classes for two reasons. Reason one being in Iyengar, I feel like I learn how to more mindfully get into, exist in, and come out of the posture. You could do a series of backbends for an entire class time and then you leave the class really understanding backbends. Reason two being, sometimes it's easier for me to get into the meditative state of yoga in my Iyengar class. Then again, sometimes it's easier in my Ashtanga class. Really, I think it depends on what kind of practice I had. Anyway, just wanted your opinions! Thanks!

Hari Om,

Lauren
