Guest guest
I've been practicing for 3 months and just when I start to see some muscle tone (which should equal more strength, right?) the sun salutations are beginning to seem very difficult. My arms get so weak that they are wobbly and I really struggle when moving from upward to downward dog. Does anyone have a theory about why this is or a suggestion?? By the way, I was fine until about 2 weeks ago.
Guest guest
Maybe you are experiencing a setback in your practice because your body is exhausted? It takes time for the body to assimilate the different postures, depending on the level of strength and fitness at the beginning of your astanga practice. Rome was not built in a day: if you hastily add one posture after the other to the sequence you are actually practising in order to make fast progress, you might eventually tire out your body, getting weaker as a result, not stronger.

I think you should better stop for now adding new postures to the sequence, and concentrate instead on improving the ones you're doing already. If you like David Swenson's method, you could also opt for the "short forms" at the end of his "Practice Manual" (available on video too), until you are fit and strong enough to do more.
