Guest guest
A natal chart is a diagram of the heavens when a person is born and is used by a astrologer to determine events and remedies for the negative periods in a persons life. At least that what Vedic astrology does for the most part. Astrology is meaningless unless it is used to alleviate the impact of negative influences. That's why remedies are such an important part of Vedic astrology.
Guest guest
Thanks,

Is this something like the American Indian medicine wheel? You find where you are located and it has tools to help you find your center.

Lewis
Guest guest
That's a way to look at it.
Yogananda quoted his master Sri Yukteshwar in Autobiography of a Yogi as saying this about the natal chart.
"Astrology is the study of man's response to planetary stimuli. The stars have no conscious benevolence or animosity; they merely send forth positive and negative radiations. Of themselves, these do not help or harm humanity, but offer a lawful channel for the outward operation of cause-effect equilibriums which each man has set into motion in the past.

"A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and its probable future results. But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men of intuitive wisdom: these are few."

Whole book is good reading in any case. Guest guest
There was an article in Yoga International, I think it was early last year, about Karma. It was said in one of the sections, that yoga can change, alter ones karma, and someone, I think it was the chief astrologer in India, was quoted as saying that if someone undertakes a sincere practice of yoga, they shouldn't even bother getting their charts done. I do wonder if there's anything to that. Any thoughts on that? Do you have a website with info on your services? (I have had a couple of vedic readings done, sometimes contemplate getting another...)

E.
Guest guest
Any sincere spiritual practice certainly mitigates karma. A number of means can destroy karma: prayer, will power, yoga meditation, consultation with saints, the use of astrological remedies—the adverse effects of past wrongs can be minimized or nullified.

As far as not having your chart done or not – It's only when you reach the end of your journey should you throw away your map. During the journey, take advantage of any convenient short cut.
The ancient rishis discovered how to manipulate some of the more mechanical aspects of the law of karma. The role of remedies in Jyotish are akin to lightning rods. Just as a house can be protected from lightning by a copper rod, the bodily temple can be protected from the effects of past karma by various methods. Astrology in and of itself doesn't really relieve suffering unless correct remedies are prescribed and followed. A personality analysis can help lead one a bit further on the road to understanding oneself, but does it help one to lighten karmic misery.

I have a web site being developed but is not yet online.
