This may not be the best place to discuss this

but as I know many of you are so health-oriented I

believe there's someone out there who could help me out

wiht my problem. <br><br>I've suffered from acne for

years and tried everything from conventional medicine

to homeopathy but nothing's ever worked for me. I

have been doing ashtanga for almost a year now. <br>My

diet consists of everything (incl. dairy products,

meat) and I have never noticed that any particular food

to have an improving or worsening effect. I am

skinny and cannot think of going on a lower-fat

diet.<br><br>Has any of you been struggling with the same problem?

Have you found any type of diet to be helpful?

Auyrveda? Cutting out wheat?

Conditions like this are just symptoms of

imbalance in your body. Maybe you could try a visit to

someone practicing traditional Chinese medicine or

Ayurveda to help you correct the underlying problem. I

don't think that there's a universal diet formula that

is right for everyone - we're unique individuals. In

general, things like zinc, and vitamins A and E are good.

Fat, too - high quality fats are good for your

skin!<br><br>Here is an article that may be

helpful:<br><br><a href=http://www.westonaprice.org/ask_acne.htm

OK, imbalance might be an issue, but it is more

likely that people get acne because it is genetic and

sometimes it's related to hormones and sometimes, in my

case, skin problems are alleviated by cutting out

dairy. (Hence the diet theory)<br><br>A lot of people

have allergic reactions to dairy products for their

whole lives and never get it diagnosed. One of the

common symptoms of dairy allergy is aggravated acne and

inflammatory conditions everywhere in the body. (Sinus, mucus

membranes, etc.)<br><br>FBL

Read somewhere recently that the ability for

adult humans to tolerate dairy products is, in

evolutionary terms, a recent mutation. Apparently it's common

in people of northern European ancestry, rarer in

other populations. Normally only infant mammals can

digest milk.<br><br>Pretty obvious why such a thing

would only become beneficial/relevant when people

started herding sheep & cattle for a living - i.e. about

five minutes ago in evolutionary terms.<br><br>So it's

a newfangled invention, not universal and maybe not

that well integrated into the rest of the system

yet.<br><br>Oh no. Not just yoga but evolution too. The

Christian right inquisition could really have a field day

with me - if I were foolish enough to live anywhere

near them.

I also have suffered skin problem for a long time

and have seen many doctors who are unable to

determine the problem. <br><br>One 'guru' I saw recently

told me to cut out all nightshade families - potatoes,

tomatoes, aubergine, peppers, tobacco. And all caffeines.

And sugar. And wheat. And of course, meat, fish and

dairy products. Basically he said that skin problems

are caused by the acidity in our digestive system, so

we had to cut out anything which creates for acid,

and eat more alkaline based food (seaweed). Oh yeah,

and obviously no alcohol and vinegar. <br><br>This

sounded to demanding for me so I have cut out things one

by one. It might be worthwhile to do a detox for a

couple of days to cleanse your system, and gradually add

things to your diet to see what may be causing certain

reactions. It is also important to remember that when your

system is begins to get better, your condition may get

worse once.
