Guest guest
Some time ago, I e-mailed senior astanga-yoga teacher John Scott to ask him about some apparent mistakes in the count of the vinyasas in the finishing sequence of his book "Ashtanga Yoga". This morning, I found the following message in my box:

Dear XXX,

Firstly sorry for the very long delay!
I am at present making a few changes for the second printing of the book.
Thank you very much for your attention to detail.
It is simply explained by the fact that traditionally every asana starts and
finishes at Samasthitih:
i.e. in the Shoulder Stand and Padmasana each variation is in fact an individual
asana with its own full vinyasa. So the number in brackets is the
vinyasa for the "state" of the asana. Therefore the vinyasa won't flow from
step to step. Please reread the opening for Shoulder Stand, it does say
"each finishing asana has a full entry and exit vinyasa............
combined
together as one sequence." For your personal reference to the correct and
full vinyasa you need to buy Lino Miele's book Astanga Yoga.
His e-mail is linomiele .
I will try and explain this in the current corrections under way.
Thank you again for your support and appreciation of the book.
Om Shanti John Scott
