Some time ago, I e-mailed senior astanga-yoga

teacher John Scott to ask him about some apparent

mistakes in the count of the vinyasas in the finishing

sequence of his book "Ashtanga Yoga". This morning, I

found the following message in my box:<br><br>Dear

XXX,<br><br>Firstly sorry for the very long delay!<br>I am at present

making a few changes for the second printing of the

book.<br>Thank you very much for your attention to detail.<br>It

is simply explained by the fact that traditionally

every asana starts and<br>finishes at

Samasthitih:<br>i.e. in the Shoulder Stand and Padmasana each

variation is in fact an individual<br>asana with its own

full vinyasa. So the number in brackets is the

<br>vinyasa for the "state" of the asana. Therefore the

vinyasa won't flow from<br>step to step. Please reread

the opening for Shoulder Stand, it does say<br>"each

finishing asana has a full entry and exit

vinyasa............<br>combined<br>together as one sequence." For your personal

reference to

the correct and <br>full vinyasa you need to buy Lino

Miele's book Astanga Yoga.<br>His e-mail is

linomiele .<br>I will try and explain this in the current

corrections under way.<br>Thank you again for your support

and appreciation of the book.<br>Om Shanti John Scott
