Guest guest
I added some new info to my page on yoga videos at: http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/yogavid.htm

Just got a copy of Godfrey Devereux's video, Dynamic Yoga - The Power of Practice, subtitled An Introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. This is just recently available in NTSC (NTSC is for American VCRs, PAL plays on European VCRs). Godfrey has studied Iyengar and Ashtanga extensively and his teaching draws from both. This video basically presents a series of postures that are easier for most people than the complete primary series. There are a lot of postures and variations that I have not seen elsewhere. Ashtanga purists may not like this video but anyone having trouble with primary series may find it very useful. I think the idea is that this is a practice that teaches the basic concepts of Ashtanga and builds towards the ability to do primary series (which is really not that easy for the average person). This video is based on the book Dynamic Yoga and is meant to be practiced along with. I hope he will also produce videos based on his newer books, 15-Minute Yoga and Hatha Yoga Breath by Breath. Available from EYE Yoga: http://www.eyeyoga.co.uk

Also got a video from Sam Dworkis. He is the author of two excellent yoga books - ExTension and Recovery Yoga. This video is just a tape of a lecture he gave at a workshop, presenting his basic concepts, which are also covered in his books and on his website. He is my favorite yoga teacher and has some very important messages about "appropriate yoga". The video is $10 and is a good way to get his ideas. I learned a lot from it even though I have read his books and his website. Ashtanga atheletes may not be interested but his info is valuable for all yoga teachers and for anyone who questions whether Ashtanga may be the best approach for them at this time. I hope he will make videos to present his ExTension Yoga and Recovery Yoga.
