Guest guest
Thanks for your compliment, though I think I scarcely deserve it.

It's not that I want to boast about my "language skills" here in any way; I simply had no other choice but to become multilingual. For professional reasons, my parents emigrated from Germany to northern Italy when I was 2 years old, and I spent there almost 18 years of my life. I've returned back to Germany now, but my parents, my brother and sister still are down there. I speak German with my family, and I went to a German school in Milan, but then, after 18 years in Italy, you do learn to speak Italian, even if you happen to be linguistically dumb. At my German school in Milan, (British) English was compulsory. And now I've started learning French, which along with English & Italian is my third foreign language. That's quite a juggle...

Anyway, you should feel chuffed that English is your mother tongue, which nowadays is the most important and the most popular language around the world (but don't tell the French). Indeed, if I were British, I don't think I would care much about speaking German...
