Guest guest
I knew Duncan Wong's name was familiar from somewhere. I've never met him. He is the guy doing urdhva kukutasana on the cover of the Feb 95 Yoga Journal. Which does rather suggest that he's been practicing advanced ashtanga since long before anybody here had ever heard of El Senor Pinche Wey.

This was the issue that had a big, and in my opinion fairly good, feature on ashtanga yoga. Judge for yourself - the text is at:
http://www.natural-connection.com/resource/yoga_journal/power_yoga.ht\ ml

I speculate that David Swenson - who I think we all know is well capable of doing deep forward bends - might show them as he does in his book either so that the asanas don't look too terrifying and unattainable for the relative newcomers who are likely to read it, or to encourage readers to keep their backs straight and not do the common beginner's thing of hunching the back over in order to get the head somewhere near the knees. Not that I care - if it upsets you so much, Senor, why didn't you ask him when you met him in New York?
