It's Yoga was my first school too. I had some

good experiences in the beginning, but then the

teachers who I had them with all left (including Alice who

was just mentioned by shambala_us and who is a great

teacher.) By the time I stopped going there it was just

Larry, who I got a creepy feeling from too (he's the

only teacher I've ever had who will try to make

conversation with students while they're practicing the

finishing postures!), and his student teachers, who simply

did not know what they were doing.

The great

thing that It's Yoga did for me was to teach me to

respect the Primary Series. While I was there I was led

through every alteration of the sequence imaginable, but

never once the actual Primary Series sequence! Now that

I'm practicing on my own and sticking to the sequence

I have come to love it in a way I would not if I

hadn't experienced and all those alterations.

>> I would be interested in people who have

any good experiences with It's Yoga

I started

my practice at It's Yoga, going there for 18 months

before moving to New York last fall. Now that I'm in a

traditional Mysore-style class, I can see why some people are

scornful of their "modified" primary series, but for me it

was a very positive experience. I don't know if I

would have ever have stuck with yoga if I hadn't had

the benefit of the not-too-serious friendly

atmosphere, the lovely location, and several highly

sympathetic teachers including Katie and Jim. Clayton had

just started a 7am Mysore class there when I left - I

never went, and I don't know if it lasted, but he

seemed promising.

DAn.
