Guest guest
A workshop with Godfrey? You are fortunate indeed. Will BNS Iyengar be there, or was it earlier this year that he came to England?

As for Dostoyevsky, the Father Zossima character to whom I likened you was a staretz, sort of an elder hermit-monk, the closest equivalent to a guru in the Russian Orthodox faith. Check out the Brothers Karamazov, Part One Book Two Chapter Four if you are so inclined. One of the more explicitly yogic samples:

"Above all avoid falsehood, every kind of falsehood, especially to yourself. Watch over your own deceitfulness, and look into it every hour, every minute ... What seems to you bad within you will grow purer from the very fact of your observing it in yourself."

Peace and Good,
Homer
Guest guest
Same workshop - middle of August; technique with Godfrey in the mornings, Mysore with BNS Iyengar in the afternoons. Quite a small group too, unlike the hundreds who will certainly turn out for Patthabi Jois's tour. Should be interesting.

*Great* quote, thank you. That one will be going on my website. Maybe I should give ole Fyodor a go. I'm generally wary of reading things in translation, but at my age learning one language at a time (German) is more than enough, I have sanskrit somewhere on my to-do list, so realistically I'll probably never get round to Russian.
