Guest guest
As an expatriate I am entitled in theory to a postal vote, but my ballot form doesn't seem to have arrived in time. Makes no practical difference - I would have voted Labour and they have a huge majority anyway where I (used to) live. Not quite like one of the elections when I was at college (circa 1981 or 2), when I could vote either in my college town or my home town, and both were among the closest contests in the country. In the end I voted at college, and the contest at home was *the* closest in the country, decided by about 5 or 6 votes. I could have at least caused another recount if I'd gone there instead.

Such things matter much less to me than they used to. As soon as one has any degree at all of psychological or spiritual awareness, one starts to realise what empty and irrelevant illusions most of what passes for public political dialog are about. Although I would feel much less detached from it all if the corrupt and obnoxious Tories hadn't been so thoroughly kicked out last time. I was pleased about that. Guest guest
Alan - Thank you for sharing.

If I were British, I would vote the same. I had a good laugh recently reading in an English newspaper that, when asked to give her opinion about the Tory candidate, William Hague, a woman commented plainly that "He's a tit". It's interesting also to notice that a large part of the English conservative press - The Times, the Financial Times, The Economist - this time favours Blair instead of his rival from the Tory Party. I'm quite confident that Labour wins the second term tonight it clearly deserves. I hope so.
