My symptoms came on slowly and I didn't really noticed the severity of them until I was in France and felt the nerves shooting down my body while in headstand. Guruji and Sarnath allowed me to modify the practice, i didn't do setu bandasana at all! and only did headstand for as long as I could keep my head off the ground. When I returned the symptoms got worse, I had an MRI done and the truth was revealed. The only thing I could relate this to was a car accident I had one year before where a car hit me going about 45mph from the rear and I suffered whiplash and stiffness. I had been working with the whiplash since the accident but something gave way. I also made the huge mistake of seeing a chiropracter for my neck problems...he made the symptoms a lot worse to the point of severe pain in my hands. Again, hope you recover fully, and soon!<br><br>The subject of injuries is always an interesting one to me...the hundred dollar question being: Is doing this yoga helping the healing process, and is the pain I'm feeling only a passing sign of "opening"? Or am I just making things worse by doing certain postures?<br><br>That recent link to Ms. Silver reminded me of something Danny Paradise said: "I've injured myself and healed myself with this yoga many times." Ms. Silver makes even bolder claims for what astanga yoga has done for her physical recovery.
