Guest guest
hi shannon and welcome
good videos depend on what type of yoga you're looking to do:
If you're looking for ashtanga I'd say david swenson or richard freeman

If you want "power yoga" (not ashtanga but physically intense) I'd say maybe baron baptiste

Other than that I wouldn't know about videos...good luck....

regarding the second series debate, someone asked me how my mysore style/self practice was. Well I've done the first series on my own/mysore style, (at home alone) several times. But generally i go to primary series led classes. I am fairly proficient although there are maybe a half dozen asanas i can't do fully, as well as "swinging through" backwards into vinyasas sometimes.

In my other post I was just trying say my OPINION that doing some second series asanas (backbending) to balance out first series asanas (forward bending) seemed to make sense. Not strict or purist, but seemed to make sense physiologically. I do realize that this yoga isn't about physical attainment, and I wasn't stating my opinion for that reason....rather that when i do the first series (without additional "wheels" or second series back bends), my back feels weak and underworked in comparison to everything else!

Namaste
Jess
Guest guest
Actually, Jess, Every time you do a vinyasa in primary series you are doing a backbend - upward facing dog - english for backbend. So for every forward bending posture, there is an equal and opposite backbending posture. You probably just weren't paying attention. If you take class with Baron, he doesn't do this. He believes he has improved upon Ashtanga yoga. I know because that is what he told me. Now try the primary series and pay attention to this. It will be a different experience.
FBL

Guest guest
Thanks for your suggestions, Jess. I'll be sure to check them out. Anyone else have ideas as well? I know Total Yoga practices hata yoga, but I'm not sure what level it is exactly considered to be on. If anyone else knows some equivalent good videos to try, please post, e-mail, or AIM me!!

Shannon
Sweet13_Princess
AIM BUS13Princess
