Guest guest
Here's a few more of my opinions re this subject:

The 2nd series does completement the 1st series really nicely. Once proficiency is more-or-less established in both series, then alternating each series by days of the week makes sense.

The only way to make progress in specific asanas to to practice those specific asanas. For example, kurmasana is a great preparation for eka pada sirsana and all other variations of leg behind head...but to expect to get your legs behind your head by just practicing kurmasana isn't very realistic.

The same goes for falling back and coming up to standing in urdhva D....for this happen in your lifetime, one needs to do way more than the prescribed 3x.

Vinyasa hatha yoga isn't voodoo. Proficiency isn't achieved by magic or by the Guru's Blessings.

Proficiency is only achieved by practice; more pratice, more proficiency.

There's another factor here as well: one's genetic background. What's true for sports is true for this yoga. Some are natural athletes who will progress rapidly in this yoga, going on to the Advanced series.

Most will not, but many will be able to make progress in 2nd.
