Guest guest
Hi freaks,
the most classes I know are going 90 minutes. Some less (see shedules in internet) are going 120 minutes. What experiences did you made? Lu
Guest guest
I do full primary Mysore style and it takes 120-130 minutes every time. I'm sure I can get through it 10-15 minutes faster someday when I am quicker in the transitions (no sitting around).
Guest guest
Lu,

according to my experience, practising the full Primary Series takes the 120-130 minutes mentioned. The 90 minutes classes probably omit certain postures, like Bhujapidasana, Kurmasana or Sirsasana and reduce the number of Vinyasas.

Regards
Thomas
Guest guest
I agree. 90 minutes just isn't enough for most people to get through primary series at a reasonable pace. I can get through it in a 90 minute class, but ony by doing half vinyasas between asanas, no vinyasas between sides, and it's still a rush. Guest guest
Try doing a workout to David Swensons video then you`ll know what a rush is. David manages 2 vinyasas to every one of mine ! Good video but slow down David !
( not so many egomanical handstands inbetween though , sadly )
Guest guest
Can't agree it takes 2 hours to do a series. I believe 90 minutes is plenty to finish properly. 120 minutes is nice, especially if you are adding second series postures and/or staying in sirsasana and savasana longer(why mysore classes are the only way to go eventually). Of course it all depends on the individual. All the 90 minute non-mysore classes I have ever been to take you through it all properly in 90 minutes with no problem without omitting any postures. Guest guest
Hi Sixti and Alan,
my question was not, how to manage the 1st series, what time is needed to finish it, even if we have now a very interesting discussion about that. My question was about that item that there are classes which takes about 120 minutes. Therefore I don't visit often classes, I wanted to hear the audience speaking if this space of time is too much, or too long for being able to concentrate during 2 hours practicing hard yoga stuff. In case you are interested: the fish is a Giant Wrasse (also called "Napoleon", because of its funny nose and lips), almost as big as a human being.
