Guest guest
Is anyobody else here experiencing a problem with our message board? Quite frequently when I click on a message title I am taken, not to the message I want, but to a page way back in the message list containing messages 70-109.

Is there a fix for this?

Homer
Guest guest
This has been happening to me alot especially in the last few weeks, especially today. I have noticed it for over a year, but until recently it has always just been with a msg that was posted in the last few minutes. Now it seems to happen with msgs from the whole day. Sometimes it happens when clicking on NEXT and in some cases you can get to the msg that would be next by entering the msg number. We would probably have to contact to get the straight scoop on this. Maybe they are getting to big and need bigger and/or faster servers or maybe there are problems with the software they use. Maybe it is just the size of the message base for this club (shouldn't be a problem). Probably it is nothing that has to do with our individual machines, but you never know. Guest guest
Thanks for your perspective, TL. At first I couldn't read your reply, due to the same technical problem.

Homer
Guest guest
"Is anybody else here experiencing a problem with our message board?"

I'll say!

As for the technical problem, I can confirm what TLSlade says in message #8361 replying to yours: If hitting "next" takes you to the wrong place, then typing in the actual number of the message you want usually gets you there, except with very recently posted messages. They are all worth waiting for, though (aren't they?).
Guest guest
To get around the problem of being taken back to the first few messages take the following steps:

1. Right click on the message you want to read from the message list. (Or right click "next" from the post you're currently reading.)

2. Choose "copy shortcut" from the dropdown menu.

3. Right click on the URL line (the one where you type the addy of the site you want to visit.)

4. Choose "paste" from the drop down menu.

5. At the beginning of the URL line remove the word "messages" and type "post".

6. Click "go" or hit "enter".

has been having this problem more frequently since their merge with e-groups. With any luck it will go away shortly. :-)
Guest guest
Looks very much to me as if it is some kind of timing/synchronisation problem between the server that presents the message list, and the one that presents the actual text of the messages.

is the busiest web site in the world, and must be running multiple servers with requests being distributed to different ones as they come in the balance the load. It is entirely possible that message text could take a few minutes to make it round to all the servers, whereas just the messag enumbers and subjects could get copied around faster, depending on how they've designed the thing.

I suspect it's purely a capacity/performance problem - web companies have no money any more, so they can't just keep buying more & bigger & faster servers like they could a year or two ago. I'm sure the guys at know more about how to make this kind of stuff fast & reliable than pretty much anybody else on earth.

Guest guest
I don't want to jinx anything, but it seems like the technical problem mentioned here a few weeks ago is fixed. Yes?
