Guest guest
Hi gang

Just for fun and in response to some comments about commercialism, consumerism and negativity, I tabulated the subject matter of the last 226 posts (8374-8590):

61 posts or 27.0% dealt with yoga technical stuff (length of class, length of holding an asana, teaching techniques, asana techniques, effects and purpose of yoga, FAQs and responses, yoga and travel, food and diet.

34 posts or 15.o% dealt with recommendations of teachers, books, videos, websites, clubs, workshops, etc.

5 posts or 2.2% were compliants about the commercialism of the club and responses to those.

42 posts or 18.5% dealt with teacher compliants or certification. These including Jessa’s unfortunate experience and El Senor’s campaign against criminals.

15 posts or 6.6% dealt with issues such as obesity, human nature, nature of consciousness, ’s technical shortcomings.

9 posts dealt or 4.0% were requests for info such as accommodation, classes, e-groups, workshops.

25 posts or 11.0% were casual: chats, thank yous, etc.

7 posts or 4.0% were miscellaneous

and lastly, 28 posts or 12.4% were midnight_omboy’s flames (18) and responses (10).

All in all, the club seems to be doing a good job dealing with the technical aspects of yoga, providing information, airing issues and providing a forum for people to meet and hang out.

The teacher certification issue isn’t going to go away anytime soon. But we could break it down into three areas -- who certifies and why, why does one want to be certified, and the bureaucratic need for certifications. And, perhaps, el senor could tone down his comments and present them in a more useful way.

omprem
