Guest guest
actually it takes courage to ask this out loud.
Preamble.... is that i heard so much recently of g devereux here plus it is a moviestar name so memorable....so invariably it was with an "aha" that i picked up a yogabook in the local barnesand noble recently that had his name on the cover, curious to find out more about the man everyone so admires.

good book good pictures yeah yeah yeah which brings me to my question of why... would he wear shorts in these pictures that if one would wear short on a gay porno website this is what they'd look like.?.

In tadasana from the sideview EVERYything hangs out the back.... which makes it scary to take in the front. It kind of flaps open in the front in other seated poses but thank god - only darkness.

What is with that and why would a great man .....

This is the kind of shorts that a girl model would wear in teen magazine that glamorize and sexualize young girl/women. If our male teacher would ever walk into class like that we'd all shriek and keel over with laughter.... i hope....
Guest guest
As a major fan of Godfrey's I feel like maybe I should reply.

First of all, I'm not sure what you mean by "it takes courage to ask this", but personally, I would hesitate to criticize anyone "out loud" for what they choose to wear. I might wonder how that would relate to the first limbs of the eight-limbed Ashtanga path.

A friend of mine who is more into the world of athletics informs me that those are known as "full-split" runners shorts. They are a standard item which can be bought at sporting goods stores. I would assume that the design has to do with allowing unrestricted movement. I would also assume that some type of undergarment is normally worn underneath.

If we chose to, I'm sure we could be endlessly amused by checking out the attire of the students and teachers in any yoga class, even in Mysore. What do you wear? Care to post a picture? I have occasionally shown various yoga videos to non-yogi friends and have noted that they usually get a chuckle out the outfits. Not being the fashion king, this was an issue that made me hesitate to attend my first class. I always just wore a swimsuit and found it to be appropriate. I usually think that laughing at or criticizing people for what they wear (or other aspects of their appearance) is not such a nice thing.

I wonder if you chose to read any part of this book and if you found it as humorous?

Dynamic Yoga is one of the more important books that a serious student of Ashtanga yoga could acquire. 15-Minute Yoga, despite the title, is full of wisdom. Hatha Yoga, Breath by Breath also excellent. Elements of Yoga is one of the best general overviews of the vast subject of yoga.

Anyway, hopefully you meant no offense and will take none at my reply. Guest guest
"A friend of mine who is more into the world of athletics informs me that
those are known as "full-split" runners shorts."

Is it customary for runners to wear shorts that shows the creases of the buttocks from behind? If so I can see how runners can get away with that - running has two basic poses- right arm left foot forward, ok now switch. And then they turn the corner and are gone.

Maybe it only happened because he reached up with both hands- and when he saw his derriere when he proofed the book, it was awww...the photographer is already gone and ...i AM in shape.

I don't think my comments came from a fashion faux-pax point of view but if you must know i for very long stuck to the black legging black top classical safety - it really didn't take much to figure a simple yoga outfit like that.

As for the bathing suit - no comment. You might wonder???? Do you want spmeone to explain it to you or are you trying to tell tshamoya that you don't think she is being 'yoga like'? You might wonder because you obviously already know. Drop the passive aggressive yoga crap and be straight. I know you usually are.

FBL
Guest guest
Devereux has had training in the Iyengar method as well as Ashtanga. In Iyengar yoga they like the teachers to have very short pants on so that the students can see what they are doing with their leg muscles. If you take a look at some pictures of Iyengar you will notice that he also likes this style of dress too.
I think that this is your answer. Guest guest
thanx.(Yes, I know the iyengar shorts and they are very practical.) It may be an explanation for the shorts in question - i am assuming you know what these particular ones look like (more revealing than the iyengar shorts -in fact probably yoga inappropriate unless you're daring). FEW girls would dare wear these around sri KPJ unless you want your tonsils adjusted.
