Guest guest
Was in a bookstore today and noticed a big new book on Iyengar yoga. Biggest yoga book I've seen yet!

I guess it's a good book for people very new to yoga who want some guidance on how to do the basic asanas. Seeing how big it was, I was hoping it would be a discussion of more advanced asanas, but no. About half the text is devoted to the use of yoga props and various yoga "therapies", different asanas as treatment for different ailments. Whatever turns you on. Guest guest
it's a wonderful book, actually...but it's geared more toward the sequencing of iyengar practice. as you may know, in iyengar classes, they don't do the same asanas each time. the teacher may pick a handful of poses geared towards breathing problems, or the same for headaches. IMHO, iyengar practice goes very well with my ashtanga practice. you learn so much more about the individual asanas in an iyengar class than you do in an ashtanga class (even if the ashtanga teacher IS talking!). but anyway, it's a good book
Guest guest
i would also need poses for headaches if i had to do iyengar yoga regularly.(ok,ok, take my head)

Funny that it has never occurred to anyone that no matter how good one is, that it is arrogant to put your own name to a style of yoga. Well i'm off to experiment with chamoya yoga. (doesn't sound right, does it?)
