Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this site! I've practiced Asthanga yoga for the past year and definitely want to continue with yoga and even begin on a teaching path and understanding of philosophies. Any suggestions on where to begin? And how do I know which type is for me? I really do enjoy the Asthanga. Help, where do I begin? What type??????????? Just trust in which ever path falls my way? I just know this is my destiny! Keep healthy and in Union! Thanks
Guest guest
HI,<br><br>I don't plan to become a teacher, so I can hardly give you any suggestions here regarding the teaching path. The words from a great master of Astanga Yoga, who has recently been certified by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, might be worth heeding, though:<br><br>"To go to Mysore and study with Guruji is a great joy, spending time there is essential if you wish to teach this system of Yoga, along with a commitment to returning." - Hamish Hendry<br><br>Then, Yoga philosophy:<br><br>As a matter of fact, I have only just finished to read The Bhagavad Gita in the translation by W.J.Johnson (Oxford World's Classics / OUP). Great! <br><br>"By Vyasa's grace, I have heard this supreme mystery, yoga, from Krishna, from the lord of yoga himself, who taught it directly."<br>"O King, repeatedly calling to mind this astounding, auspicious dialogue between Keshava and Arjuna, time and again I exult."<br>"And repeatedly calling to mind that more than astounding form of Hari, I am greatly amazed, O King, and exult again and again."<br>"Wherever Krishna, the lord of yoga, and Partha, the bowman, are, I believe that there too there will be fortune, victory, prosperity, and lasting good counsel." - The Bhagavad Gita (XVIII, 75-78).<br><br>Good luck.
