Guest guest
"you get to the point of spontaneous yoga described by Amrit Desai and his Guru, where the body instinctively and effortlessly flows into a series of asanas with you as the passenger instead of the driver."

Omprem, do you know what the preconditions for this experience are? I've read about it but I've also noticed that nothing like it is discussed in Ashtanga circles. I wonder if the Ashtanga approach of adhering to a specific sequence closes off the possibility of this occuring. What do Desai's students do to invite this experience?

(To whom it may concern, I am fully aware that this spontaneous yoga is not Ashtanga and that if one were to do it then one would not be doing Ashtanga).

Thanks,
EH
Guest guest
EH

I have very litlle knowledge about the techniques of Kripalu Yoga. Perhaps someone who has practiced Kripalu (when Amrit Desai was still head of it) can answer your question.

Failing that, a web search or a visit to your local alternative bookstore might turn up something from Amrit Desai on attaining spontaneous yoga. He always characterized this state as very important.

Omprem
