Guest guest
Did any of the German residents here see the "MaxQ" programme on BR this evening about the renaissance of yoga therapy & traditional Indian medicine?

Nothing specifically ashtanga but lots of interesting things - BKS Iyengar teaching and demonstrating - effortless drop-backs, padmasana in sirsasana, (fairly) effortless viparita shalabasana. And a Dr Karandashar (? - can't read my own notes), also in Pune, teaching yoga therapy with a *totally cool* skeleton doing vasihthasana in his office.

Also some interesting stuff on Ayurveda - a clinic where people where being treated ayurvedically instead of conventional chemotherapy after cancer ops; and controversy over people both in India and the west hawking diluted and commercialised versions of "ayurvedic" products.

Altogether very interesting. I'm generally impressed with the standard of documentaries on German TV - almost makes up for the general unbelievable lameness of the comedy ;-)

And all this hot on the heels of last year's yoga documentary, in which the sharp-eyed could spot me for about two seconds in the back row of an ashtanga class. Still admittedly not quite the same as Lino on national TV in Finland (although there are more than twice as many people in Bavaria as there are in Finland, according to my world atlas)
