Guest guest
In addition to tips on shoulder alignment in Adho Mukha Svasana, I’m collecting notes or tips for further refinement. After having a mix of Iyengar, eclectic, and now Ashtanga teachers, I’m having trouble sorting out the different approaches. Here is a start. Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Notes from some Ashtanga books:

1. 'Yoga Mala', by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois,
page 53
“…lift the waist up, tilt the head under, press the heels to the floor, pull in the stomach completely, and hold position, gazing at navel…”

2. 'Ashtanga Yoga' by John Scott,
page 24
“…Practising dristi and listening to the sounds of ujjayi help to draw your focus inside to the breath-bandha connection, and this principle can be explored in the 6th vinyasa, Donward-facing Dog, which is held for five full breaths.”

page 26
“…look to your navel…”

3. 'Ashtanga Yoga', The Practice Manual, by David Swenson,
page 18
“…Lengthen the spine from your sacrum through the top of your head…”
